taking care of mommy

Since Friday afternoon I've been fighting an on-again-off-again headache which has caused me to take many breaks just laying on the couch, waiting for my medication to kick in -- can I just say how much I love Advil? -- and my daughters immediately run over and make sure I am okay.

The first time I took such a break, Malia covered me in with her favorite blanket and cuddled up with me. She was very good at making sure I kept my eyes closed and rested. Anytime she would catch me with my eyes open, she would say "Shhh...go to sleep!" very firmly and wag her finger at me.

Another day, Joelle joined in on taking care of Mom and she added her favorite butterfly pillow to the mix. They both sat somewhat quietly on the other couch watching TV while I got a few minutes of much-needed rest. As soon as Les came in the door from work, they were quick to tell him, "Shh...Mommy's resting." Of course this was after their excited shrieks of "YAY! Daddy's home" when they heard him drive up on the driveway.

The way I have been feeling is also the reason why I have been slacking at visiting all of your blogs and responding to emails. Last night I was in bed at 8:30pm, and tonight I'm planning to be in bed by 9:00 or shortly after. I promise I will get caught up with all of you in a day or so...

I didn't realize you weren't feeling very good. I hope it doesn't last much longer. Your girls are so cute. That's nice that they actually let you rest!

Hope you feel better soon! Moms can handle anyone else being sick, but mom herself? That's the hardest to deal with!!

Glad that your girls are such good caregivers. And good for you to go to bed early when you are sick....good example for me to follow!

Okay, this has nothing to do with this post, but I have to say if I would have gotten to the poll about which letter was on Rachel's cheerleading outfit, I would have gotten it right! In fact, that night I was watching that very episode and I quickly went to your blog to vote, and alas, it was closed! I have to keep up on your polls as well as watch more Friends. My friend Sara has the entire box set of every season of Friends.......

You mean you have to be sick to go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00? Oops, I must have missed that memo. I'm always in bed that early and I don't have an excuse other than I am a tired working mommy.LOL I hope you feel better soon. It's never fun to feel down.

Isn't it awesome when kids show us their loving, nurturing side?! It just shows that everything we pour into them they are actually receiving and able to give back!
What precious little girls you are raising!
