proof that you can have fun no matter what

This past weekend was my little family's annual get-away at a friend's cabin. We rent it every summer and always have a great time. Now, for those of you who live near us, you know that the weather this past weekend wasn't overly pleasant for being outdoors.

Rain...rain...and more rain.

But we decided to make the most of our short family time together and still had a lot of fun, whether it be stuck in the cabin or venturing out inspite of the weather.

We didn't let the rain stop us from heading to the beach to collect rocks & seashells and trekking through water up to our knees -- although we were grateful for a couple of rain-free hours on Sunday so we could actually relax on the beach and make sand castles (or a sand-person as you can see from one of the pictures). Joelle even ventured out into the water past her knees, which is more than I can say for anybody else!

While cabin-bound, we sat by the fire, watched movies, played crokinole, charades, Go Fish and Old Maid. Perhaps the worst part of the weekend was when I got stung by a wasp, but even that was overshadowed by spending some much-needed quality time with my wonderful family.

As always though...it was wonderful to come home!

Yup, that pretty much sums up the weekend up here, too. (and apparently today and tomorrow as well ~ great.) It's challenging to have fun away from home when the weather sucks, but it looks like you managed just fine!

Ouch to the wasp sting. I've only ever been stung once - not looking forward to #2, but I'm sure it'll come eventually.

So true, can't wait for the weather to cooperate to have a blast of a good time. But you're right, it's always nice to come home and sleep in your own bed.
