bunny love

We may or may not have had a slight accident yesterday involving a tiller and a family of bunny rabbits. There was one sole survivor and the girls have quickly adopted this teeny-tiny creature as their very first pet [which obviously means that they have little to no loyalty to their fish as they don't seem to consider them pets]. They did not leave his side all evening as they tried to keep him warm and safe and fed. They missed out on TV watching before bed and Malia even passed up her regularly bedtime snack just to cuddle him a little bit longer.

We warned the girls that their little baby might not even make it through the night, but after Les set him up with "blankets" and a lamp to keep him warm, the girls were oh-so-thrilled to see that their pet was still alive when they woke up this morning.

How long this little life will last, we obviously don't know. But one thing I do know - my girls are sweet little nurturers with mama hearts already.

Haha, first the running posts, now the foster-bunny... it's like you're living my life a step or two ahead of me!

Last weekend we had two bunnies that somehow ended up falling out of the cage and into the barn wall so the girls are looking after them. Their mother didn't seem to want them back very badly. (Well, now there's only one, unfortunately, but at least he's still lookin' good!)
